Ghoul are one of the hundreds of 80s throwback bands that began infesting the earth almost two decades ago. The difference between them and most the others is that Ghoul do it right. They have all the essentials: the Exodus / Carcass worshiping riffs, the Jeff Walker and Bill Steer cloning vocals, and a humorous barrage of horror and gore lyrics. When combined, they construct a sickening, B grade movie soundtrack of raging, slash and burn metal. Plus, Ghoul is fun. “Fun” is a naughty word in metal, but the undead men of Ghoul don’t really give a flying fuck. There's no way not to smile and engage in thrashing to a song like "Ghoul Hunter." They know their shtick is just as much humor as it is horror and that’s exactly what makes it work so well.
