Extreme Hatred is a perfect description of the music contained
within Hypnosia’s only full-length release.
These guys aren’t fronting with that title as the sound they produce is
both malignant and barbaric. Without a
doubt, this is one of the pinnacle thrash albums released in the new millennium
and is my favorite metal record of the year 2000. In the midst of all the atrocities that were
happening in metal at the turn of the century, Hypnosia threw a lightning bolt
and cut through all the bullshit. The
music brings to mind the early history of Sarcofago, Kreator, Dark Angel and
Sadus, back when they played with reckless abandon and embraced making music
that perpetuated a sincere feeling of violence.
It was the type of music that had you wondering about the true mental
state of these musicians. Hypnosia gives
heavy nods to the Teutonic scene in the 80s as they are more than willing to
push the momentum of the songs to the brink but never fails keep the overall
tone vehement. The vocals are right out
of the Kreator playbook and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. If you’re into metal that hacks, slashes and
wants to watch the world burn, you are going to love Hypnosia.
