The Reason Why!

"Listen to my story! It all started back in 1980 We were young, no direction, it was all so new." That's me borrowing a line from one of my favorite bands on this planet. The ideal behind that lyric has stayed with me throughout my life, and the importance and magic of music has never faded. I began working in record stores in the late 1980s and have continued to do so to this very day. Yep, I had to grow up and get a responsible, big boy career, but my life still allows me to put in a few hours a week at the best job I ever had; local, independent record store employee.

So, the blog...
There are so many incredible things about working with music. One of the best aspects was suggesting bands or artists for people to check out. There's nothing better than turning someone on to something new, or to something that passed them by. That's what this blog is dedicated to doing. I will be posting a song from bands ranging from the obscure to the wildly popular, mostly in the genres of metal, punk, hardcore, indie, alternative, industrial, and rock, and giving any background knowledge or memories I have of the band or album. Or it could be a long rant or short blurb...just like if we were talking at the store. My hope is people will check out the song and then go rummage through their local record stores (or the internet I guess) for the full releases. Who knows, maybe someone finds a new favorite band. Comments and suggestions are always welcome. Props to the Descendents for inspiring the blog title! Check the list directly below for all the bands that have been written about already.
