RADIOACTIVITY - "Radioactivity"

Artist:  Radioactivity
Song:  World Of Pleasure
Album:  Radioactivity
Year:  2013
Genre:  Punk / Power Pop

I could do a four-word review for Radioactivity:  Buzzcocks meets The Dickies.  I won't let it be that simple, but you really don't need to know more.  I have to thank a close friend for making me aware of Radioactivity...so, thank you Mr. Bill Bondsmen guitar player!  Radioactivity contain a couple guys from Marked Men.  That right there forced me to make a b-line to find this record since the Marked Men were a phenomenal band.  Radioactivity are a stripped down, no frills punk band with excellent power pop melodies.  I've seen them classified other places as a garage band.  Just because they didn't hit the "make us sound like we're on Fat" button in Pro Tools while recording doesn't equal garage rock status.  Yet painting them in the same corner as other 3-chord pop punk bands is an injustice.  Radioactivity's songs are just so organic sounding and memorable.  There's nothing contrived and no surprises.  Sometimes that comfortable feeling is good in a record.  After two listens I already had the melodies roaming in my head.  Radioactivity prove that writing a simple song is an art form.  Excellent band and record.
