Album: Vision
Year: 1993
Genre: Melodic Hardcore
As their career
progressed, No Fun At All were thought of as the Swedish Bad Religion. There are much worse things to be
called. Yet, the tag was fairly
well-deserved as NFAA continued morphing into more-and-more polished, melodious
territory while maintaining their 4-chord, breakneck delivery; much like the Southern
California godfathers of melodic hardcore.
Yet, when NFAA started, they were a raw, 3-piece skate punk infused
hardcore band. Vison is an 9-song EP containing abundant amounts of speed,
youthful spirit and pile-on-your-friends sing-a-longs. The band flies with reckless abandon during this
16 minute romp, bashing away at their instruments and audaciously screaming
their hearts out. The liveliness they
captured is what all punk bands should strive for when recording. I prefer this
EP over their other releases. There’s
just something so unrestrained and sincere about it that it always feels
exciting and new any time it’s blasting through my speakers.
