Witch House / Electronic
When I
first heard Salem, I had no idea I was listening to a form of music called
Witch House. First thought…"what the fuck is Witch House?" Unsurprisingly, it’s a super stupid name for electronic-based music that had a
dark atmosphere surrounding it. Didn’t we already have Darkwave, Gothic,
Industrial, Post-Punk? Dumb name aside, Salem are
excellent. If you grew up around any industrial clubs in the 80s, this
sort of music is nothing new as it delves in the experimental side of
electronic music using noisy soundscapes, erratic beats and spooky samples and
vocalizations. But Salem do it very well and affix their
unique, dark approach which makes this a very intriguing listen.
